Microfluidic approaches for personalized cancer therapy
Microfluidic technology allows to do research directly on patient´s material rather than cell lines. Here we will exploit this conceptual advantages for large scale studies on cancer cell evolution and drug sensitivity.
Keywords: Microfluidics, Cancer Biology, Circulating Tumor Cells (CTCs), High Throughput Screening, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
We are looking for candidates who will work on Microfluidic devices for personalized cancer therapy (prior knowledge in microfluidics is beneficial but not obligatory for joining the group). Circulating tumour cells (CTCs) will be isolated from blood and characterized for both, drug sensitivity and genetic markers for resistance. This will allow the development of optimized personalized therapies and should help to get mechanistic insights into tumour evolution.

The goal of this project is the characterization (phenotype and genotype) of CTS from individual cancer patients for developing novel therapeutic approaches.
