Design and Commissioning of an Automated BSA Purification System with Integrated Magnetically Levitated Drives
In this project, you will plan, design and commission an automatic System to purity BSA with bearingless motors for mixers, pumps and sensors from the industry partner.
At Levitronix, bearingless electric motors are developed for ultra-clean applications
as required in the pharmaceutical industry. The contactless rotation
is used for centrifugal pumps, bioreactor mixers and viscosity sensors,
among others. Bovine serum albumin (BSA) is a common protein in
biotechnology, which must be purified in the downstream process.
The project involves the design, development, and optimization of an automated
BSA unit capable of reducing concentration and performing diafiltration
processes. Efficient concentration reduction and diafiltration
are essential steps in its purification and formulation processes. The integration
of magnetic levitated mixers, pumps, and viscometers will enable
precise control and monitoring of the unit operations, leading to improved
process efficiency and product quality.
Your prototype is then tested with state-of-the-art equipment in the laboratories
of Levitronix in Altstetten.
