The Health-IS Lab, a joint initiative of the Institute of Technology Management at the University of St. Gallen, and the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC) at ETH Zurich, strives to specify, develop and evaluate consumer-centric applications that lead to health and well-being. Key aspects investigated in this context are how mobile and ubiquitous information systems as well as remote communication between patients and health care providers impact health-promoting behavior. Prof. Dr. Elgar Fleisch chairs the Health-IS initiative as the scientific head. D-MTEC seeks to strengthen the Health-IS research group in the SNF/DFG project **PathMate 2: Design and Evaluation of an IT-based High-Outreach Intervention for Overweight Children and Teenagers**, i.e. the follow-up project of PathMate: http://www.health-is.ch/lab/projects/pathmate/
As part of our team, you take direct project responsibility and maintain close relationships with our interdisciplinary research partners. A background in computer science, data mining, machine learning, statistics and programming is advantageous.
Employment conditions, compensation and benefits are attractive and based on guidelines of ETH Zurich. The average duration necessary for successfully obtaining a PhD is 3 1/2 years.
You should meet the following requirements:
- A master’s degree with a technical background (e.g. computer science, business informatics) with a GPA (Grade Point Average) of at least 5.0 (GPA of 2.0 and better in Germany and Austria)
- Profound knowledge in programming mobile applications, machine learning and multivariate statistics is advantageous
- Strong interest in economics and technology-based innovation
- Self-confident appearance and high conceptual and communication skills, especially with regard to presenting research results to a broad and interdisciplinary audience
- Profound knowledge in German and English (written/oral)
